Just bought new iPad yesterday, note that rear camera not function but front camera did well. Try some solution from forum but still not work. Anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

My new ipad has this problem too. It worked for couple of hourse since unboxed. Then suddenly the shutter won't open anymore. The front facing camera works just fine though.
I tried restored the device twice, but it's still the same. I thin this might be a hardware issue. :(

I have had this same issue. I sent tried all the suggestions, cleared I pad to factory, reloaded with iTunes ,nothing worked. I sent it in for repair, and it worked great for a week. Today it started doing the same thing again ! I am so frustrated. I must say I was impressed with the service from Apple,they paid for shipping and I had my IPad back in 3 days, but now I have to send it in again ?? I am wondering how many people really have this problem and will it ever get resolved ? I am calling service dept. now to see what to do. Sorry to hear yours is doing the same thing. I would suggest you call and send it in with your warranty.
I am facing problem with my iPhone 4S, I read that many people are facing this problem after updating 5.0.1 or 5.1 OS, since sometimes, front camera works, I guess it is more software problem, but no response from Apple for these months.
My rear camera was not working, I have the ipad3. the little hole or lense in the back was dirty and that made the picture blurry.I cleaned it off and the picture was clear as ever.
Thank you. Both front and rear camera would not work; after having no problems since receiving this new generation iPad on June 2012. I followed your advise of March 31, 2012. The camera front and rear works.
Me too . i wondered why they don't solve this yet . i was seeking for a solution since 2 years ago and still can't find an answer . what about those who live in middle-east , where there isn't any apple store or warranty center ?
i restore my ipad mini a years ago and the rear camera fixed just for a moment and again it disapeared.:(
HI, going into the same problem as everyone. Rear camera dont work but front work perfectly. Reset, recovered, tried everythin. But nothing work to bring my rear camera back to life
