My wife's 1st gen Macbook Air has a broken screen and she has ordered a new computer.
I have copied the data from the old drive and would like to re-purpose it as an external storage device for her new computer.
Is this possible, and where would I buy an external casing for a SSD drive?

Do you mean a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter? With those you could put it in any 3.5" enclosure you want. For that matter you should be able to mount it in a 2.5" enclosure without an adapter.
