Any streaming music, or streaming video or downloading a big file?

DId you try using activity monitor to look at CPU use? if so, how much of the CPU was firefox or safari taking? Did you see any thing else taking a large perecnatage of the CPU? For instance maybe shockwave or flash.

Also what are your battery stats? (apple menu, about this mac, more info button, system report button, in the left column under hardware, click on power, there should be a section labeled Battery Information.)

Have you check to see what your energy saver settings are? (apple menu, system prefrences.., energy saver, battery tab.) Is put the hard disk to sleep when not in use checked?

Also did you isntall Adobe Flash and or Shockwave on the computer?

The battery looks good to me. Nice max capcity.

1% every 3 minutes works out to be what 5 hours?

If you have installed flash on the computer, that would explain why your missing 2 hours. For instance Dump Flash, Get 2 Extra Hours of Battery Life.

When I use firefox, I load a page it spikes to like 18-23% CPU. and then after the page loads it drops to like 1% and stays there. At least until I load another page. I also notice that when I scroll in firefox , firefox uses 100% cpu. So lots of scrolling in firefox will effect battery life.

If your seeing 20% CPU when firefox is open, and your doing nothing in firefox. then 20% would seem a little high.

About the same as yours close to 3 minutes. If you un-instaleld flash, you'd probable get closer to 4 minutes.

My experince has been that even just intstalling flash seems to reduce battery life.

ClickToFlash stops flash from automatically loading on web pages. This means when you go to websites and they have say a advertisment made in flash. That advertisment will not load, unless you click on it. Witch means your computer uses less power to render and display the web page.

This also means, Lets say you go to you tube, the video may not load right away. instead you have to click on the allow flash video to load button, then you can click the play button.

I tried clicktoflash. It was nice, but after a while I tired of having to click allow. I chose instead to just go with the battery life I get with flash installed.

You might want to also try changing the default disk sleep setting to a lower value. By default your disk sleeps after 10 minutes. Lowering to a number like 5 minutes may save some battery life. You need to go into Terminal to make the change: Save Battery by Spinning Down Hard Drive Sooner or use a general-purpose utility software like Cocktail or Onyx to adjust the disk sleep timing.

My battery can go about 4–5 hours on a full charge with minimal use (no heavy processing tasks or video) and I've also had my laptop for almost 3 years. When I first purchased it, I seemed to recall getting about 5–6 hours, not Apple's claim of 8 hours under minimal use. The again I used my Macbook for more than just surfing and emailing at times so I never did a measured study of battery accuracy.

Did you try recalibrating your battery? Perhaps your battery indicator is not accurate. If so, recalibrating the battery would fix this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490.

my macbook pro battery is going down 1% every 3 mins
