The iPad manual says :

With iPad Wi-Fi + 4G models, you can use Personal Hotspot to share an Internet connection with a computer or other device—such as an iPod touch, iPhone, or other iPad—connected to your iPad via Wi-Fi. You can also use Personal Hotspot to share an Internet connection with a computer connected to iPad via Bluetooth or USB. Personal Hotspot works only if iPad is connected to the Internet over the cellular data network.

Note: This feature may not be available in all areas. Additional fees may apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I have inserted my iPhone 4s Vodafone sim card into the New iPad 3 but dont get the hot spot option, when this same sim card is my iphone I readily get the hot spot option in settings between wi-fi and notifications. I have tried Settings>General>Network, but when i get to Network all I get is 2 options:-

1/. VPN - Not Connected, I have had a look around in here bit cannot find anything relating to Hot Spot set up!

2/.Wi-Fi - Which is already set up in my home.

Am I missing something here?

Been busy typing and checking things out did not see the 2 e-mails above, sorry but question still stands I was led to believe this option would be avaiable on the iPad 3 one of the reasons i bought it for work !!!!

IV Michael just wanted to say thanks for your input also, latest is my carrier Vodafone has confirmed that i do have hot Spot with my Sim, hence why I get on my iphone 4s.

Vodafone suggested that I should go into :- Settings> General>Reset in the reset menu!! there is Reset Network Settings, reset network only and let the ipad reboot this has apparently worked in the past and may work for others but not in my case, so I will go down to my local apple Store and speak to them direct.

Thanks again for everones input.

I done it again enterrred a reply then found out there were two more replies!! Luckily my answer adressed both messages, I must be a mind reader.

Thanks again, next time i will refresh before I type.!!!!!

Then your carrier does not support iPad hotspot or you did not sign up for their iPad hotspot plan.

As posted: my Telco supports Hotspot, the plan includes it, the iPhone Hotspot function works perfectly ...

I'm well aware that it should work, just posting that for me it currently will not.

Here's an interesting Catch22 question for you:

Some say the Hotspot option is only visible if you turn WiFi Off, but if that's true then how do you then share the service, Bluetooth ?

(Not that I can get this to work either, and I do have a fallback to the iPhone Hotspot, it's just that one plan has 3Gb and the other only 1GB and I'd much prefer to use the iPad)
