I cannot empty my trash because it is telling me I do not have permission, any way around this?

Question

I cannot empty my trash because it is telling me I do not have permission, any way around this?

The items in the trash can are old apps from my iphone and old documents from a previous employer. I created all the documents so I am not sure how permissions were established. I have not had any of these issues before, please help. Thanks

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash

The files are in trash I however can not empty the trash. Some files will empty without problem but there are some protected files that will not empty.
