iPhone reset problem

My camera+ app wasn't functioning, so support told me to reset my iPhone. I selected "reset all settings" and the prompt stated "this will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted." I proceeded to do so, then the phone booted up to restore from iCloud. Because I did not back up my 3GB worth of photos to photostream, I now have lost all my photos.

I'm so confused and agitated regarding this as the prompt said it would keep data and media intact. Can anyone shed any light or their experience with this?

Sad times =(

No I chose not to use photostream because I have more than 3GB of photos and that would require too much data to back up.

Having said that, the reset prompt said that "no data or media will be deleted", yet it still deleted it all. I am very frustrated with this. I had no idea it was going to do a restore from iCloud. If I had been warned, I would not have done anything. All I thought that was going to happen was a resetting of settings.

I think I'm beginning to understand. It seems there might have been a little miscommunication here. What the support guys probably meant was that's you should reboot your phone not reset to factory settings. That really makes no sense if it's only an app that's not working.

For further reference this can be achieved by holding the home button and the power button at the same time until the apple logo appears. Now what you could do is restore your phone using the latest backup you have on your computer and hopefully that'll bring some of your things back.
