how to change calendar name

Can you rename an iCal calendar's name after it's created?

I've Control Clicked on the calendar name in the left column and searched all the iCal pulldown menus

Unless I'm just totally missing it, I don't see a calendar rename or edit function anywhere.

Using:

iCal 4.0.4

Mac Pro Tower with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Thanks.

Ferd,

If you mean click the name of the Calendar(s) in the left column of iCal, double clicking has no effect here.

If you mean double clicking an event within a calendar on a particular day, you are correct.

I am trying to change the title of one of my Calendars which are currently:

Home

Untitled

Birthdays

Obviously, I'd like to change "Untitled"

If worse comes to worse since I just started this calendar, I can delete it and create anew and name it at the time of creation this time.

Did you mean I should be able to double click the actual calendar's name? Or an event?

Thx,
Steven

Steven,

You should be able to double click the actual calendar name. Since double clicking the name in the Calendar sources pane has no effect for you, go to System Preferences...>Universal Access>Mouse>Mouse Options>... and change the "Double-Click" speed.

Although it appears not to apply in your case, you can change the names of most calendars in the Calendar list. You can’t change the names of the main Exchange calendars (Calendar and Tasks).

I tried everything on my Mac and couldn't find a way to change the title or get at an edit menu of some kind. Maybe it's a limitation or bug in 10.6.8 or iCal 4.04.

However, I'm on my iphone4 (iOS 5.1) right now & launched Calender and then clicked the Untitled Calender & got an edit page where I could change the name! Success!

So to anyone reading this in the future, if you can't edit a calendar name on your computer, try editing on an iPhone or iPad.

Finally figured it out. If on your computer, with iCal running, click once on the Calendar you want to change the name of in the left column:

Then click the menu: Edit > Get Info (or you can use the keyboard and select the calendar you want to rename, then press Command + I) and you will get a window where you can change the calendar's name.

Just rename the Calendar in the Name field and click OK button and

you should be able to change your caldendar name easily.

Hope that helps

I am NOT using hotmail calendar. I was trying to use iPad calendar and could not get it to change the calendar name no matter what I tried. Since it was using part of my name I just started searching for the the connection and hotmail seemed to be it and sure enough that was the name hotmail had on their calendar. I had never used the hotmail calendar so they must have set it up when I opened the account, then I used that account for my iPad setup.

My iPad is not picking my iCal calendar from my laptop because I haven't connected them yet (at least that's what i'm assuming).
