iPad 5.1 disconnects itself from wifi?

I have just bought the iPad and it came with the latest version iOS 5.1 and ever since I got it the wifi would just disconnect on it's own. I believe this is a software issue I tried restoring it to factory setting 2 times just to make sure and the ploblem would always come back. I went to my friends house and he updated his iPad and the same ploblem would happen when he updated to ios 5.1 also he didn't have this issue when he was in 5.0.1 . Apple can you please fix this ,but in the mean time is there something I could do to avoid this since I use my iPad a lot for work.

P.S.

Is this ploblem also in the iPod touch 4g I'm afraid to update it to 5.1 it's running well in 5.0.1 .

Try this.

I've had success with the Wifi issue and fixing it. When you connect to Wifi the iPad searches for your router or other routers within range. It seems to be unstable when connected to the router when selected from the list of routers that shows up when you turn wifi on. So try this.

Go to the Wifi section in settings and turn wifi on.

When it searches the nearby wireless connection you will see 'other' at the bottom of the router list.

Click on 'other' and enter your Wifi details manually.

The name will be whatever your router is called eg: wireless.

Select the security that matches your router security eg: WPA2.

Enter the wireless password and then hit join.

Now my Wifi remembers the password I entered and has become stable with a stronger connection I'd like to know if this solves your problem and I'm sure Apple would be too, so please post your findings here!

I have the same issue as the original poster, except on my iPhone 4S...it started after I upgraded to iOS 5.1. I've tried EVERYTHING that was listed on these forums and nothing has helped. I do notice that if i turn cellular data off and leave voice roaming only, then the wifi stays on the whole time...no disconnects at all...but when i turn cellular data back on, same thing happens with wifi constantly dropping...it works fine when I use safari though, but when i open apps. wifi always drops and I have to go back in and select my network and have it reconnect...and yet it'll still end up droppping. It's gotten VERY frustrating. The wifi disconnect isn't limited to my home network either as I was connected to another network recently and again the wifi would drop. is there anything that can be done? is apple aware of this? I wish there was a way to go back down to 5.0.1!!! i hate this crap!!!

I'm having the exact same issue as j15 described. Both my iPhone 4 and iPad are on 5.1 but only my iPad disconnects from wifi at random intervals.....it's incredibly frustrating. I was told by apple support that the problem is with my router at work and at home. I'm less likely to believe them since my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 are not experiencing a similar issue. If anyone had any thoughts on how I can overcome this problem please let me know.

Since you had this products and never incontered any issues do you think it's a device issue or a software?

If you believe it's a device issue can you please reply back and let me know since I have a 30 day warranty and I still have a chance to exchange it. But I do not think its that because I have seen this problem on the iPad 2 and 3 running 5.1 also it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem since there are so maybe people that responded above about the exact same problem.

I know how you feel I have been researching this and it seems that this is a software issue with 5.1 dont worry you are not alone alot of people have been having this ploblem I guess we would just have to wait until a next update and hope that apple fixes this problem.

Does anybody knows if Apple is aware of this issue.
