Q: eMac (USB 2.0) RAM upgrade

It is true that, with newer RAM modules, the USB 2.0 eMac can use 2GB RAM. Usually you have to get PC3200 but that works OK (they are backwards compatible).

However, finding a UK vendor that knows this may be a problem Most people around here looking for UK RAM vendors are directed to Crucual's UK site. However, Crucial USA tend to only spout Apples outdated specs as in this page:

The problem is in finding Mac-compatible PC3200 modules that work in a Mac without Crucial's RAM searcher. That means finding another Mac that uses that type of module. It turns out the first G5 iMacs used 1G 184-pin PC 3200 modules so those should work:

We have one in our 1.42G eMac next to a 256MB module and both are fully recognized.

I have that RAM in my eMac 1.42 GHz...
