Q: Where do my apps go?

I've been trying to back up my ipod touch onto itunes on my macbook pro. After I click back up ipod I can easily find the music, but not the apps. The ipod runs on 4.3.5, the macbook runs on 10.6.8, and the itunes is version 10.6.1. Any help finding the apps would be much appreciated.

The backup that itunes performs does not include itunes content.

If you want to transfer itunes purchases from the ipod to the computer, then click File>Transfer Purchases

I am trying to update my ipod to ios 5. After updating it, when I put the apps back on my ipod, will the progress be saved?

    - What I would do is transfer the apps to the computer.

    - Then connect the iPod to the computer anf make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up

    - The restor the iPod form that backup.  This will alo update the iOS.

The apps have to be in the iTunes library on which you do the restore/update and the iPod (backup) has to have the app data.

I clicked back up, then restored it from the back up. I have ios 5 now, but all of the apps are gone. How do I get them back on my ipod?

Please start you own topic/ask you own question and fully explain your problem and what you have done so far.

Starting abut a year ago Apps will no longer from iPod to your computer's iTunes library since previously the app download included all variations necessary to support the different devices the app could be used for. Now, the device only downloads what is needed for the one device making the download.
