Q: icloud email problem

I am receiving my .me email on my ipad and iphone - both upgraded to ios 5.1, but suddenly stopped receiving .me email on my Macbook Pro (10.6.8). The processor on my laptop will not allow me to upgrade to Lion. I have been receiving .me email on my Macbook for the past month after moving to icloud.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Did you move your Mobile Me account to iCloud on one of the IOS devices?

Same here, can login to web and iPad works, on the Macbook in Lion Mail I get a server "rejected the password" message.

edit - this is the same account I moved to iCloud about 10 days ago.

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.

Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is described in detail here:

    Looking at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4002

My 10.7 Mail SMTP was on P02.-imap.mail.me.com (but this was grayed out so I couldn't try dropping of the P02).

found under the Advanced tab that my authentication had changed from Password to something else. Changed it back to password and Mail is now working on the Macbook.
