Like, it, always have my ipad with me, sometimes, my sons "missplace" the Apple TV remote. While I like the iPad 2 ability to remote control the Apple TV...the UI "design" is pretty lame...is there plans to make the iPad remote look/work more like an the AppleTV remote? In fact, turning the iPad 2 into a giant look-and-feel of the Apple TV remote, would be a GREAT idea.

Ok...but what if there was a "lifesize" image of an AppleTV remote on the iPad screen, along with other information, then I could intuitively do what I already know to manage the AppleTV with my iPad.
I think what people are saying is that if you simply reproduced the AppleTV remote as you describe, you are limited to reproducing the left-right/up-down navigation as well. It would make more sense to reproduce the actual AppleTV interface on the iPad (i.e the Movies/TV/Music/Computers/etc icons themselves) so you can select them directly on the iPad's touch interface.
Personally, I'd prefer a more iTunes-like interface where I can browse a 'wall' of movie/show/album covers instead of just listings...
My whole point being, the CURRENT "user interface" on Remote, for AppleTV, is lame...and doesn't do EITHER of the things suggested above...it neither looks like the AppleTV nav screen NOR looks like the AppleTV remote control. It is a very large, screen wasting, difficult to intuitively interact with, interface...not something I've come to expect from Apple. Seems like one of those "rush jobs" that some manager with a budget up his keister, forced some poor programmer to shoot out of his butt in a weekend.
Huh. I find it extremely intuitive as all i have to do is swipe and tap my fingers on the screen of the iPad/iPhone while looking at the television. I'm not sure why it should look like the screen of the Apple TV or like the physical remote as it is neither. I think it makes excellent use of the touchscreen interface.
