Although the HP Scanjet shows up in the system profile for the computer it is generic and is not configured (as in screen shot).  It also does not show up in the ;ist of pritnters, scanner when I open Image Capture.  I can't load the software that came with the printer because it is out of date so that would make it impossible to configure the scanner on the new iMac. see below:  Too bad there isn't some generic profile I could load that would cover the 5550c. I have a new all in one printer-fax-scanner but the old one can scann in slides and negatives which I have.Screen Shot 2012-04-04 at 12.07.12 PM.jpg

I was going to ask if HP had anything new for that, but I found on their website the latest ImageZone software they list for that model scanner was last updated for Tiger back in 2005!  Yeesh, I'm surprised it worked for you in 10.6!

You may just be out of luck if HP is not updating anything for it for Lion.

I guess I'll keep my old eMac running a while longer, they just keep on going and going.  I finally got rid my my old OS 8 Mac Performa a few years ago and it was still working at the time, it was like losing a child. Between my wife and I we have had 4 Macs and 3 sre still running!
