Roller Coaster Tycoon 3; Is this item compatible with my MacBook Pro?

Hello,

I have a MacBook pro that uses OS X 10.7.3 (newest version of Lion) with 4 GBs of Ram. I am purchasing Atari's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum for Mac from here: http://www.amazon.com/RollerCoaster-Tycoon-3-Platinum-Mac/dp/B0048XAVC2. Before I buy it, I need to know if it will work with my MacBook Pro. I also use a lot of memory, so I was wondering if I should also purchase more 2 more GBs of Ram.

I would appreciate it if someone were to help me with this situation. Thanks.

It tells me that it need rosetta to work and Lion does not have Rosetta, but if I go to Aspyr's site and download patch (Rev.A), it should work without Rosetta.

The question is, will I be able to install the game once I get it?

I checked on the official RCT3 site and didn't see any place where you can get the software for the Mac.

Very good point but are they legal? If the publisher itself doesn't release Mac versions then how can there be an official Mac version?

They are legal, they get permission from Atari before making the Mac version. I know this from talking to my friend who has one of their other games (Lego Star Wars). I need to know how (and if) I can install Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 before I update it with the correct patch that Aspyrs provides.

You didn't state what MacBook Pro you have, look under the Apple Menu>About this Mac > More info for the "Macbook Pro 8.1" type deal.

If it's the 13" forget it. I can tell you that right now. 😟

I've ran RCT on the PowerMac G5, it's a hefy bugger, demands a powerful video card.

A version (RCT3) for the Apple/Mac computers is NOT planned at this time.

Guess they had enough when Apple had to swtich to Intel processors, but RCT2 was awesome on the PowerMac G5.

Guess you need a Win 7 64b bit gaming tower

Too late, I was excited for a moment, no Mac Intel version and Lion doesn't run Rosetta so your can't run RCT2 PPC version even.

Oh well, the pain we suffer at the hands of Cupertino...

But I might get a Win 7 gaming tower for that game, it's a lot fo fun. 🙂

opss that's a really old game, XP only. LOL 😁
