Extension tab doesn't display

First Safari extensions weren't showing up. After some help, I was able to get the extensions tab back, but found the privacy tab won't display. I unknowingly jacked another thread, as I'm new at this, so now am posting my own. I'm running Safari 5.1.5 on OSX Lion, MacBook Pro 2009.

Thanks to whoever responds.

Hi Yogi ..

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file (preferences)

Quit Safari.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences

Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.

Relaunch Safari. Check Safari > Preferences. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.

If that didn't help, try troubleshooting Safari third party plugins > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Hi Carolyn (and ~Bee!),

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that after following the instructions on the link at the bottom of Carolyn's post, I was able to retrieve the Privacy Tab content. I suspect the SIMBL file I found under the root Library might be the culprit.

The bad news is that having removed about twelve third-party add-ons (by putting them in the trash folder, which I have not emptied!) I can't find them in the trash to put them back in!

I enabled root user to access the Library Folder on my hard drive -- didn't know if I needed to do that or not.

BTW, the article is not nearly as user friendly as you guys are.

It's also mentioned that there is a way to "put files back" from Trash on Lion, but I didn't see any means of doing that in the Fiinder window.

Thanks,

Michael
