2012 MacBook Pro 16GB RAM Upgrade

I am currently looking into purchasing a 15" MacBook Pro for business use. I am curious as to if I would be able to purchase 16GB of RAM and put it into a 2.5GHz 15" MacBook Pro, or is 8GB of RAM the maximum for this model?

Any help is muchly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you sir. I upgraded the new model 2012 MacBook Pro 15 I bought last week to 16GB - clocking @ 1600Mhz with the quad-core Intel 2.6 GHz "Ivy Bridge" i7 processor installed.

I did upgrade my 2011 iMac 27 with 16GB of RAM - clocking @ 1333Mhz (which is the the maximum speed with the Intel 2.7 GHz "Sandy Bridge" i5 processor installed in my machine). Not sure if the same year model iMac with an i7 Sandy Bridge can push 1600 MHz of RAM though.

I was looking at comments about a MacBook Pro 15 RAM upgrade - thought this was a current thread - that is why I posted here...

I do not know when you posted this question, I just found it today 12/10/2016 and see other responded. Yes you can install 12 GB Upgrade but you have to have the right ones, the 1333 MHz make your "BeachBall" frequently. The right ones are:

16GB Kit eRAM Memory (2 x 8GB) 204 Pin DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 1024x64 CL11 1.5V SODIMM's

"Data Memory Systems" is a good source and has the best prices. I use them for 20 years without any problems ever.
