I am struggling to reduce the size of some of my PDF , without loosing image quality.
I have used Finder and it did reduce size , but the the picture quality was poor.
Does anyone have any answers?

You are not in MacBook forums, you might want to check though with OS X Community, or are you using iPhoto and iLife, which have their own forums also.
Pretty hard to take away (pixels) and not affect content quality, no?
Instead of clicking File>Save As PDF, you go to Print, (BUT DON'T CONNECT YOUR PRINTER! 😉,) then click PDF, AND THEN Save As PDF. This greatly reduces the size, but the quality is near perfect! 🙂

What do the PDFs contain? How (with what app) were they generated? How are they going to be used?
Take a look at PDFShrink. The link I gave is to the macupdate.com download page for PDFShrink which includes its description but also includes a Similar Software section for other possibilities.
It didn't reduce the size but it sure added white borders. So, no this doesn't work!
You are brilliant! This saved us a trip out in the cold to re-scan documents!
This is an amazing tip! 29mb to 4mb with barely, and I mean BARELY, and recognizable loss in quality.
I tried this and got a message (Acrobat) saying "Saving a PDF when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File>Save."

Had a 32 Mb pdf that went 18 with Acrobat and the images were terrible.
Printed to pdf and the images look great. Size: 8Mb.
