Q: ipad mail, i don't get it!

I'm not sure how its different on my "new ipad" but it is. 

I have 2 email addresses going to my imac, ipad and iphone.  (me.com and a gmail)

On the imac and on the iphone I can delete mail.  It seems like when I try to do it on my ipad i click edit and check a few i don't want and the only choice I have is archive. 

I click that a few times... where does that mail go?

Also when i read mail on the imac or iphone if i don't want it there is a trash can on the mail so I can delete it in one single step.  On the ipad there is no trash can on the mail so I have to hit that little folder i guess then pick the trash.  2 steps. 

But I can't figure out how to delete mail from the main inbox all i get is archive. 

If I go into each seperate account I have mail folders i didn't set up like: starred, important, all mail,  and they all have the same emails in them a copy of a letter is in the inbox, the important, the starred and all mail.  I only need one **** copy.  this is sooo much to delete I know I must be missing something.

Please help me!
