I have an older Ipod Touch that is still in good working order and would like to put ibooks on it as a friend was recently telling me about it. Is there an older version (ibooks 1.3) that i could download from anywhere to work on my ipod?

No. you can only purchase the latest version of apps. There is not way to purhase earlier versions. Tghe apps are lock to the account that purchased them so you can't "borrow" an earlier version from someone.

Sorry but no. Even the first version of iBooks required iOS 3.2, and iOS 3.1.3 is the last version available for your first-generation iPod touch. If you want iBooks, you'll have to get a new, or at least newer, iPod touch.

Is there a similar app available where I can load e-books onto my ipod? It still works fine I'd hate to just get a new one. Had the same issue with apple products before with an older laptop. Still worked fine but they stopped making software for it so it got outdated.
It depends upon the format of the books and if then have DRM. What is the format and source?
Not from any of the major e-book sellers, it appears. Kindle, Nook and Google Books all require a later version of iOS than will run on your iPod.

not sure a friend emailed them to me. the files end in .EPUB and they loaded into itunes fine.
