New iPad copy/paste not working correctly.

I recently bought the new retina screen iPad (32g wifi only) on march 29 and already I'm having problems with the copy/paste feature. When I copy a chunk of text it correctly pastes that text to my notes however when I want to copy something else it only keeps pasting what I previously copied.

I have seen that happen with both of my iPads - the original model and the new iPad as well.

I know that this is a PIA and you should not have to repeat the process, but I just go back and copy the text again, then go back and paste again.

I attribute it to not properly copying the next selection of text that I wanted to paste. I don't know if that's the reason, but that seems to work for me.

However, if you are experiencing this behavior constantly, that surely isn't right. Have you tried a reboot? Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart.

Sorry, but most of the time this is simply going to result from not copying what you thought you were. What happens is that you select the block of text, get the pop up CUT/COPY/PASTE menu selection, try to tap the COPY selection . . . and just barely miss it. You've just moved the cursor by a few lines, the menu box disappears, and it looks as though you've copied. You haven't.

It drove my sister in law crazy, sure that she was tapping directly on the COPY area, and as it turned out she was — but with her fingernail, not her finger, which was slipping into the tiny gap just below it and moving the cursor up one line.

Want to be sure? Use a stylus.

I know I am doing it correctly, but I am finding that I can copy almost anything I want from numerous websites, but when I go to capella.edu to copy course work, it is not copying even though it is being highlighted. However, if I do the same thing on another website, I have no issues. This is strange because I copy and paste from this website with my macboopro on a daily basis. There must be a bigger issue that I am not identifying with Capella's website???

I have the same issue when copying from academic websites and some others as well (iPad2). I'll highlight the text and then tap the copy button (the button turns blue, so there's no question that the iPad knows I'm trying to copy it) but then when I try to paste it into Notes or Pages, it just pastes previously copied data.

I'm sure people will point the finger to the websites, but on any desktop or laptop this is a non-issue. the iPad recognizes these are words too, because the define feature works on the same words that refuse to be copied.

This is faulty programming. I have faith that sooner or later Apple will step it up and fix this...hopefully I'm not wrong.
