If you really want to delete the books from the iPad - While you are in the Kindle app - tap and hold down on the book icon - and tap Remove from this device - or swipe across the book to delete it from the iPad.

On the kindle app, at the bottom of the screen there are two tabs. Cloud, and device. The cloud tab shows you everynthing you have ever bought from amazon. Books that you have read or started will have a little ribbon on the cover with the percentage read on it. You can easily tell what you have already read. There are two views, cover and list.

The other tab, labeled device, just shows the books on your pad and how far alomg you are. When you no longer want a book on,your pad, touch and hold, the cover, then delete it. You can pull it back from amazon's archives whenever you want.

Well that seems stupid. I don't want to sort through a million books, ones I've read and not read, showing on my icloud on my ipad to pick one to download onto my ipad to read. There has to be a better way. I have to figure out something to better organize. This is my first time enabling icloud so I hae a lot to learn, I can see how it would be useful for some things but kind of a pain in the butt for others. 😕

Thanks for explaining all that to me! That was very helpful! 🙂. But some of the books on my icloud doesn't show I've read them because I read them on my Kindle not on my ipad, I think that's where I'm getting confused on sorting through the books and having to remember which ones I've read! 😟

But some of the books that I want deleted from icloud were awful to begin with and I don't want them anywhere on my Kindle, Ipad or icloud! Anyway, once I've read a book I never go back and read them again. There is very few books that I would choose to keep permanently. Too many books out there to read to reread others. 😉

That is so strange! I deleted a couple of gawd awful books from my amazon library at the amazon site and they still show up on cloud on the kindle app in cloud. The only thing, when I tap on it I get a "License limit reached message telling me that I have exceeded the limit of the number of devices that can read this item. I may deregister any device no longer in use and delete the content, which will allow you to download this item. You may also purchase another copy from the Kindle store" and it gives me that option. But the picture of the book still shows on cloud. So go figure. How does yours totally disappear??

Deleting content

Deleting a title from your Kindle Library permanently removes it from your Amazon account. You'll no longer have access to re-download the title unless you purchase it again. Existing copies of the deleted item already on your device will not be removed unless you delete them directly from the device.

You can keep titles in your Kindle Library but delete them from your device or reading app. This keeps a copy of the title if you want to download it to a device or reading app in the future. You can also keep an additional backup of your content by saving a copy to your computer or another storage device.

Above is from Amazon......it works for me to pull down list of Actions on each book and one option given is to Delete. First remove it from your device, then go to Amazon and Delete permanently from your Manage my Kindle Library. Good luck! Amazon customer service is usually good if you want to ask them for help!

HELP! There is a book listed under Cloud in Kindle App on iPhone which I want to delete. I did what was suggested above by going to my Amazon account and deleting it from Manage Your Kindle and it no longer appears on that page. However, when I go to Kindle App on iPhone it is still there. I tried logging out and logging back in, turning iPhone off and back on, etc., but it still appears. Suggestions?

Thanks!

I have had ebooks in which I have deleted from my Amazon account (via 'Manage Your Kindle), but could not delete them from the 'Cloud" tab on my iPad (even when I held down the book cover and/or swiped... it would say "License limit reached..."). Finally, I deregistered my iPad both through my Amazon account and on my iPad. After I re-registered my iPad, the books that were no longer on my Amazon account (but continued to show up on my iPad (Cloud)) were finally gone off of the iPad as well.
