i have an iphoe 4 and when i try to use some of the apps they do not work. They sort of blink but do not connect. When hold my finger on them they shake and then come up with a black cross. Can some one please tell me how to fix this problem?

Try a hard reset (Press and hold display off and on button on top along with Home button for over 20 seconds till Apple logo appears) [Ignore the red slider] and see if it solves the issue.

This is normal. This is how you delete the applications from your iPhone. If you press that black cross on top of the shaking application, it will be deleted.
I did what you said by holding down the home & off buttons simulatenously but that did not work. Is there something else i cann try?

What sort of applications are these? Can you open and use other applications?
If you are facing this problem with some specific applications, then you may delete them and download them again.
