Can I play games from my iPod touch via the Apple TV which displays them onto a HDTV?
Can anyone help me, by answering this question, I'm buying one later today and just want to know if I will be able to use my iPod touch and AirPlay?

You can use airplay but what you are describing is Mirroring. That is only available via iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (and later).
Airplay will let you stream local music and photos and videos (locally or from compatible apps)
