Multiple devices using Airplay mirroring.

Right, scenario...

There are multiple iPad users in the same room, on the same wirless network as an Apple TV. If one of the users is using Airplay to mirror their iPad display (to show a document, video, website etc) is it possible and does anyone know how another iPad user could take over that Airplay mirror?

Is it as simple as another user selecting AirPlay and that device would then take over the screen, or does the existing device connected need to disconnect first?

I'm just wondering how suitable Airplay is for conferancing situations where users would want to mirror different devices, at fairly short intervals to display content.

Is this possible, what are the limitations, restrictions etc?

Good question. Guess it works given you create another common apple ID that all the iPad users in the same room will share temporarly for mirroring to the same TV via ATV. So, the iPad users can't go to App Store using their own IDs during the conference.

There's no requirement to share iTunes/App Store content via Home Share merely to be able to switch between different AirPlay content that's already on each device locally. I just need to know how that switching process is managed? I guess whether they're using the same Apple ID doesn't matter because the question, how do you switch between active devices still stands even if they share the same Apple ID.

I have been using multiple ipads mirroring through an AppleTV plugged in to the HDMI connection on the classroom projector. As you say all ipads need to be set up on the same network and yes, when someone else hits Airplay, their device takes over the screen. I'm training my students to switch off mirroring once they have finished sharing. We've been having some issues with sharing video however because of the bandwidth required. Techies tell me it's a bug that's being worked on. Once that's sorted, this is definitely but I'm not so sure.

In ropatahs case, were all the devices on the AppleTV logged into the same AppleID?
