I am using my new iPad to access and display a particular website. However, the page opens too large for the screen and I am unable to scale it down with the iPad's Safari browser. What options do I have to keep the whole screen size in sync with the application site?
iPad Wi-Fi + 4G (Verizon), iOS 5.1
The normal way to decrease the screen size on the iPad is to "pinch in" with two fingers, but I suspect that there is something more about this web page that needs to be revealed or that there is another issue on the iPad - a setting perhaps.
You can not decrease the screen size any smaller than 100% - if that makes sense to you. You can increase the size and reduce it back to normal size, but you cannot go smaller than normal or 100% screen size.

No - that is not possible.
The suggestion did not address the problem. 2 fingers (pinch) reduces the site but does not hold it (springs back) when I lift my fingers. Not necessarily related to a particular web page. I now believe that the problem is site related. However, the web site start-up screen all fits in the screen area when I look at it in portrait mode (but with wasted screen space at the bottom end of the page.
So, if the web site is set-up for portrait delivery, can the ladscape mode of the iPad + Safari reduce the image size to that all of it fits the new iPad's screen?
Maybe I am now misunderstanding you but on many websites you have to swipe to the bottom of the page in order to see it. The iPad's smaller screen size doesn't not allow for most website pages to be seen in their entirety without swiping to the bottom of the page.
I knew that pinching in would not solve the problem I was merely explaining how you reduce the image on the screen. You cannot reduce the image more that the full 100% size.
Turning the iPad to landscape mode actually enlarges the image and then you are able to see even less of the web page. That is just how the iPad works.

In this manner, I can in Landscape mode see both the bottom of the webside and the right side of the page. Even if the page does not reduce correctly, it is more important that one can read across the page (in landscape) so the whole site is visible without screen interaction. One can page down using the hand/finger swipe if that is the only option.
