Hi,
What a backup does is that it backs up your phone so like your stuff like settings, photos things like that get saved into iTunes and then it syncs your device with the most current things in your library.

You could use the free iPhone Backup Viewer application:
This is exactly what I need, but it is for Mac only. Thanks anyway.
iPhone Backup Extractor, you can download a free version with limited capability of a paid Registered version:
I can't tell from site whether photos are recovered, and that's my interest.
You'll find your backup(s) here: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup ... If you have more than one iDevice, just do a backup in iTunes and then check the timestamps on the folders to find the one most recently modified.
Moreover, iTunes Backup Extractor enable you to preview and restore the content of backup file.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!
The iPhone backup viewer can do this. It not only enables you to view the files in your iCloud backup, extract the files in backup file and save to your computer, but also allows you to scan your iPhone and find the lost files even if you have no backups.

Thank you for your simple yet effective response to this problem. My phone was acting stupid so I turned it off and when I turned it back on my contacts were gone. Did a google search, came across this thread and your response. Took about a minute and was done (hopefully they are all there, I don't know how many I actually had). Thanks again .
