how can I see content of itunes backup

I would like to know what is in backup before I restore to iPhone.

Lenovo Thinkpad, Windows 7

You'll find your backup(s) here: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup ... If you have more than one iDevice, just do a backup in iTunes and then check the timestamps on the folders to find the one most recently modified.

Moreover, iTunes Backup Extractor enable you to preview and restore the content of backup file.

Thank you for your simple yet effective response to this problem. My phone was acting stupid so I turned it off and when I turned it back on my contacts were gone. Did a google search, came across this thread and your response. Took about a minute and was done (hopefully they are all there, I don't know how many I actually had). Thanks again .
