You can try resetting it by holding down the home and sleep keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. See if that helps. However, chances are your issue is beyond a user fix and I'd contemplate making an appointment at your local Apple store because something might be wrong with your device.

Trade it in at an Apple store or contact Apple Support.

I hate to say it but my wife dropped ours yesterday. I was probably an hour away from taking it to a Apple Store and being told to buy a new one.

I thought the posts were nuts when they said drop it on the corners or on its back. Tried it and nothing worked.

Tried it again and it worked. About 18 inches off the floor and made sure it did not hit flat.
