Ssd for Mac mini 2010
I want to change the HDD of my Mac mini for a new SSD. I wonder what's the best option. Thanks.

Thanks for the answer. I wonder if I can use a Samsung SSD or Crucial in my Mac mini (mid 2010) with no problems.
Make certain the one you get uses the Sandforce chipset...
Oh, last bit, make sure the SSD is a Sandforce controller.
You don't want Marvel, Intel, JMIcron or other.
Only Sandforce.
OCZ Vertex2 and Agility 2, ADATA are a few of the possibilities.
Of course, OWC as well.

I thought the Intel SSD uses SandForce chipset, non?
I guess some do, not sure if there might not be more at play though, like Firmware maybe...

I know those sites. Thanks anyway
Then, I can use an Intel SSD with my Mac mini 2010? I would like to hear from someone with an Intel SSD.
I have a dilemma over here .
You can replace the HDD with an SSD or you can replace the optical drive with an SSD.
Now if you replace the HDD I recommend a bigger SSD , preferably 240GB and a higher cost (OCZ, OWS, Corsair )
The other version is to replace the optical drive with a smaller SSD , 120GB and a lower cost , like the new Intel 330 series ...good value .
Well ,don't expect the to have those speeds they said , because the Mini 2010 works max 3G speeds ~SATA2. ( the Hitachi HDD is only SATA1 ). So SATA3 will never work, which are the real speeds . The majority of SSD with SATA2,3 are on the same price range .
For sure you will get an improved performance (SATA2 over SATA1 ) but the process it's tedious and require skills if is house made .
Good Luck !
Thanks for a comprehensive response.
My intention is to change the HDD, I need the optical drive.
I did not know that the mac mini is limited to SATA2. This narrows my search. What do You think about the Intel 330 180GB?
I believe it's a great drive at least from the specs . and also having SandForce SF-2281 , but for a Mac Mini 2010 it's overpriced and since Sata 3 will not run , what's the point . Still waiting for a real test with this one !
I've found a Intel SSD 330 180GB for 186€. Do You think that's overpriced? Worth waiting until a price reduction?
Forsure yeah , it's overprice . It's a new product on the market , it will take at least 6mo to go down in prices . just in time for holidays :)).
