why are my app store and itunes menu in spanish

Everything else is english. The App store and iTunes content is in english. Just the bottom menu items are in spanish. I know I need to learn spanish, but not this way. Any ideas on how to get these back to english?

Settings>General>International>Keyboard. There is a keyboard setting as well as a language setting in there.

Did you try Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID - and then tap View Apple ID (I think that is what it says) - enter your password - go down to Country/Region - tap that and change it to US.

Unfortunately, you cannot delete or reinstall the Apple preinstalled apps.

I just can't figure out why the bottom menu items would be in Spanish. If the keyboard is set to English, the language is set to English, the region is set to the US in the store settings, the region format is set correctly - the last places that you can change the region settings are right in iTunes and the App Store. Have you tried that?

Go the either/both store(s) and tap on the featured tab. In the bottom left corner of those screens, you can access your Apple ID. Tap that and then make that Country/Region change in there - in both stores if you have to.

There is no other place to change the region. This whole thing doesn't make sense to me if everything else is in English and the stores themselves are in English.

Did you buy the iPad in Spain? How did the bottom menus end up appearing in Spanish in the first place? Or is that the great mystery?

Ya, I tried that too. Opened up both the iTunes and App Store and viewed the Account Settings. The Country/Region are set to the United States. I didn't buy the iPad in Spain, but I did buy it in Houston.

I tried downloading an App for the first time and it will not let me. It says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"

Now I'm really stumped.

That's not an unheard of problem. Here is Apple's kb article for help with that issue - can't connect to the iTunes Store message that is ...

You certainly are having your share of problems with this thing. Have you downloaded any apps to this iPad before this issue. You are giving this iPad to your mother so are you using your own ID on the iPad now? You do have an Apple ID with a US registered credit card with a US billing address correct?

I think that Johnathan is referring to this type of reset.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad restart again.

I like a challenge as well and that is one of the reasons that I like to try to offer help here, but I agree, this is a little out of hand. It shouldn't be this hard with a new devices.

Try the reset that Johnathan suggested, and keep your fingers crossed.

Got it!!!

Weird. With the iPad connected to the computer, I went and changed the country/region settings on the computer for both iTunes and the App Store to Canada and then back to the United States and it worked. I had tried this already but I used another odd country and it did not work.

I will give all the credit to those wonderful Canadians as well as Demo and Jonathan for their excellent help.

Thanks again!
