Java for OS X Lion 2012-001 - causing security risks rather than fixing them???

It sounds like it may have been damaged during download. Try downloading it again.

The download is hosed. Downloaded multiple times

on three different machines with the same result with

the error message. Checksums are correct.

I see the update and will apply it, although 001 was not problematic for me.

On the download page, Java for OS X Lion 2012-002 still points to

the old file that still won't mount the .dmg without an error message.

(The info still shows ver 1.0, with the original April 3 release.)

Great discussion; I tried to download a few different times and was getting the error, so good to know it's not just my machines.

Still not clear to me, though, about next steps. If we're using the link posted by FatMac, should we apply the fix even if we get the error, or should we wait until a non-error generating download is made available?
