How do I connect my Ipad 3 to wireless that's been locked?

I am computer illiterate so please make it simple for me. I just got a new Ipad 3 and I am trying to connect my Ipad to wireless but its locked. How do I connect it?

In settings, network, 'search for available networks'. It should find your network. Then tap the network name. If it is secured, ( and I am guessing that is what you mean by locked) a screen will pop up asking for the password.

Enter the password, or network ket, then it will think a while and either join the network, or tell you unable to join. If you get the unable to join message, that means you messed up the apassword, simply try again.

If you do not know the password or network key, look at the router. Some have the key on a sticker on the side.

If not there, capture the peron that control the network, and ask them whatnthe password or key is.

Go to a computer that is already connected to the wi-fi.

On a web browser go to --> http://router/

or

http://198.168.1.1

or

http://198.168.2.1

or

http://198.168.0.1

Eventually you'll get to the router setup screen. You'll be able to navigate to where the security settings show the password.

There is an alternative if you're on a windows operating system (shudders a bit)... If it's connected to the wifi you can open up the connection, look at it's preferences/settings (I forget) and where it has the passkey typed in you can click "show password" and it'll be there for you to have. 😀
