Does anybody remember how much memory is needed to start system 6 and 7?? And is SE FD/HD memory outdated?? Or is there still any place to get it?? And also how do I install it in my SE??

But I was thinking more like online perhaps.

Me too. I get all my RAM from two online vendors, but only one ships overseas. That's why I asked about location. No sense in sending you to a seller who couldn't ship to you if you were outside North America.

Unfortunately both my trusted vendors no longer show RAM for the SE series. Thta's a change from onley about 8 months ago when I last checked. Did you look at crucial.com?

BTW-- one of those vendors I use is in Illinois and has scads of cool Mac stuff, just not SE RAM:

Your Macintosh SE FDHD should have at least 1 MB of RAM already installed. This would allow System 6 to run. For System 7 the requirement is 2 MB or more. The sensible solution is to have the maximum amount of RAM (4 MB) for the computer in question.

There are some special things to consider regarding memory types, resistors or jumpers. Therefore I would recommend that you look for a copy of Larry Pina's book Mac Classic & SE Repair and Upgrade Secrets (ISBN 1-56609-022-9).
