iPhone Making Static/Hissing Noise

My 3 week iPhone 4S today started making a hissing type noise coming from the charging port. I am unable to play music through the external speaker now too. Anyone know what could of happened /how I can fix it? Id like to avoid going to the apple store, but if I must, I will.

Not that I know of. Also under general => usage, the total battery usage times aren't displaying. uh oh :S What could be causing this?

Weird..now its making no hissing noise but I am still unable to listen to things like music with the external speaker or use the volume rocker. However, if I plug in earphones its fine and if I adjsut the volume manually it does playback. o.0 Should I try restoring factory settings first?

And no I have no insurance.
