Battery

Hi i am having a problem with my powerbook G4 15in 1.67ghz 1.5gb ram 128gb hdd 64mb graphics, the problem with this laptop is when i unplug the the charger it will shut off i checked the battery indicator on the bottom of the laptop the green lights up barily and is only on one light circle it only lights up when you hold it down is the battery dead also the indicator has picture of a battery with an (X) when you are on the computer desktop. should i buy a new battery for this machine.

Based on the battery status you posted, note the full charge capacity and the cycle count. When a lithium battery goes bad, one indicator is that it logs silly values. So, for example, the full charge capacity should be around 3800mAh, and cycle count could be in the 300+ range. As Kenichi Watanabe suggested, a new battery is in order, and OWC is a good source. I've bought several batteries from them for our Powerbooks, and they have performed well.
