How to access my youtube account from the iPad?

I cannot access my youtube account from the iPad; I get an error message saying that Username or Password are not correct; yet I am sure both are correct.

Can access from Macbook.

Any help much appreciated. Tim.

if using Safari or web browser access using your Youtube signin. If using the YouTube account on your ipad it should automatically sign in with your Apple ID. When opened via the Youtube on your pad, tap subscriptions at the bottom to sign in with your own YouTube account. To use via Apple and get to a browsing window, just tap any video, then quit it.

Thanks Coppertiger, but....

I can sign-in to Youtube running Safari on iPad, using my Google account, just as you suggest. Having done that, and not signed out, I opened the Youtube app (that comes with the iPad), and clicked Subscriptions: entered my Google account --- rejected. started Youtube again, clicked subs' entered my Apple ID and its password ---- rejected.

So, I can get to Youtube via Safari on the iPadwhich is some help, but how do I access my Google/Youtube account with the Youtube app please?

I am using an iPad3 runnng 5.1.

Many thanks Tim.

Check settings\General\Restrictions\Allowed content is at a max for all categories - alternatively try turning restrictions off and see if that makes a difference.

The only other suggestion I can make at this time is to wonder if You Tube, Your Account is similar to other applications that have a settings page that restricts access from other locations/devices. Log in to You tube from your browser and look under my account\help

Trouble logging in from other locations/devices..

Finally, you said you had logged in from your PC first, have you logged out first, before trying to log in on your pad?

Also when you restored - did you sync to itunes afterwards to commit all your settings once you were set up. IE your apple id is correctly registered, your device is set for home sharing along with your PC,

Just check here on your PC. Open iTunes Store, at right in quick links click on Account, log in, and check both your PC and device are listed by clicking on mManage Devices. The YouTube App on your pad is managed under your iTunes/Apple sign up. Check your Country under Change Country or Region is also correctly listed and matches your existing YouTube profile information.

I cannot think of one single reason why you are having the problems you are, but it could be no more thana process of elimination. Best Wishes Ct

Thanks Ct,

I appreciate your advice, and I've worked my way through most of your suggestions without cracking the problem. (With iTunes10 Store/Account has no clickable Manage Devices). I am puzzled by "The YouTube App on your pad is managed under your iTunes/Apple sign up." (Both Apple and Google think I live in Australia. Possibly mix up of English US and UK languages).

Just to reiterate:

I can access my Youtube account by signing in with my Google ID & password on my Macbook and on my iPad via Safari (with browser version of Youtube).

I cannot access my Youtube account by entering same Google ID & password using the iPad Youtube App on my iPad3 (IOS5.1).

This is a problem with signing in to the Apple iPad Youtube App, which expects a different ID +- password. And I have found no way to alter this.

My solution is to use the Safari version, of course.

I am not an avid Youtube user, but I don't like niggling issues with logging in on Apple devices. Shouldn't happen with Apple!

Perhaps Apple support will look into this?

Sorry!!! Mea culpa!!! Coppertiger,

I can sign-in to iPad Youtube app using an old forgotten Google account ID and Password.

This accesses my old Youtube account, with some uploaded videos. Nice.

"The YouTube App on your pad is managed under your iTunes/Apple sign up." So I suppose somewhere in my Apple account is a link to the old Google Account.

Can I revise this link on the PC, and then via iTunes, on the iPad? Or something.

What happens if I merge the Google accounts, I wonder.

Probably wisest for me to be pleased with this as an added "feature' of Apple's Youtube App, but I wonder why Apple seems to give me no choice in Youtube accounts.

Thanks for your patience. Tim.

On the right track Tim. Make one of your linked email addresses your Apple ID, doesn't have to be primary it can be a secondary - like if you forget your password. You Tube is affiliated with gmail and if you have one you can sign in with it. Do the link in gmail not youtube, so if you switch Apple ID sign in email address you still have your Tube link via gmail.

If gmail send you a confirmation for the change of account information - which is where you can add other emails - click on any confirmation links to ensure the servers are updated.
