I have a huge number of Radio channels that Apple iTunes (v 10.6.1) comes with by default (as you know if you've ever looked at the Radio listings).
How can I delete most of them so I don't have to scroll through them?
If I have to do it via Terminal or going in to the System folder it's okay.

You can't edit the list. If you just have a few favorite stations you can make a new playlist, put them there, and ignore the radio stations list.

That's what I've been doing for a long time.
I'd hoped someone had figured a way via Terminal, or whatever, to not have that huge list that I never bother using... because of its size.
It's not possible, in Terminal or anywhere else, because that list is sent from a server somewhere and is not integral to iTunes itself. Hence there's no way any user can edit it.

You may think I'm very finicky, but I'd like very much an option to expunge, if not single channels, at least some of the genres. I actually feel disturbed at being presented such ones as heavy metal or hip hop/rap.
Sorry, but it can't be done. If seeing some of the genres or stations disturbs you, your only option is to not use the Radio feature.

You can delete stations. There is an edit button under the stations at the top. Click on it. Then click it again. It's like deleting songs from your playlists. Then they will be gone
That's iTunes Radio, which is completely different from the list of streaming stations (now under "Internet Radio" in iTunes 11) referred to in this thread which dates from 2012 and early 2013.

You can create a playlist and drag only the stations you want to this playlist.
Then go to iTunes prefs > General and uncheck Radio..
