2 accounts on one iPad, what happens?

Unfortunately, I'm rather new to Apple products and know very little suppor-wise. I was given my boyfriend's old iPad and it already had a bunch of stuff on it I like to use. But I want to make the iPad connected to my apple ID instead of sharing his. If I do this, what will happen to all the current apps that are already downloaded onto the iPad and will it wipe anything out? I'd rather not re-buy all the apps that are already on it.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

No it will not delete them, but if there is an update for them, you will have to log in with his Apple ID and password to update the apps.

The iPad is designed to support only one AppleID at a time. You will lose use of the apps installed from his when you change it.

How? I have apps from both my Apple IDs on my iPad currently, they do not get deleted from my iPad.

iCrizzo is correct if you update from the computer's iTunes. However, if you do it from the iPad, there is no need to log out/in. However, you MUST enter the password for the appropiate ID.

That is incorrect. I've been using two IDs for nearly two years now with no issues at all.

In my case, the names of the two IDs were nearly identical and, for several years, I didn't even realize that I had two! I'm now in the situation where fully half of my purchased movies, music and apps are associated with one ID and half with the other ID. Updating is a minor PIA.
