Let me join the chorus of discontent. I too have an all apple setup along with an ATV2 and an ATV3. The ATV3 keeps dropping the WiFi network and when it does it shows next to no signal even though it is about 2 meters from the Airport WiFi router. The ATV2 hasn't shown any signs of failure. I have gone through all the recomended recovery processes including power reset of ALL equipment and each time the ATV3 eventually fails. This does vary from failing evey 30 minutes to failing repeatedly with only 3 - 5 minutes uptime. I have read today, many reports of Apple replacing units only to have them fail again. The unit is not getting even warm so I don't suspect component failure but with the manufacture of these devices in questionable contries, inferior componenetry cannot be ruled out. I'm hoping a firmware bug will be discovered and rectified. C'mon Apple, time to show a bit of respect for your customers and give us some solid support on this product.

Scan the Support Community sites and you will find: Apple TV losing connection is prevalent. The many postings point out the problem occurs with:-

1 Apple TV1,2and 3;

2 with different brands of router including Airport Extreme;

3 with current and past versions of iTunes;

4 after varying periods of working well.....minutes, hours, days;

5 losing connection with Home Sharing and losing Airplay;

6 whether the router and Apple TV are in same room or separated by distance;

7 after trying innumerable posted 'fixes';

8 after exchanging for a new Apple TV;

9 with all the recent operating systems -Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard, Leopard and Lion.

10 when it loses wifi, the ATV will work immediately if you plug in the ethernet cable.....Steve Jobs called the ATV a hobby, but Apple products are supposed to be better than this.

I suspect frustrated readers just give up trying, rather than find a fix, which is why I invite readers to please don't post a fix until you check it works for at least a week.

With you DaddyKool. I have been Apple only for 11 years, but am now once again considering other options. My AppleTV is not working, with the same fault that many report here. Apple Tech Support are so far very poor in dealing with it. The current Apple ethos is exactly as you say, arrogant. I cannot say I have defintely decided to leap back to MS but I am certainly limiting my exposure to the Apple Ecosystem for the timebeing, such as not buying iBooks etc, until I know what IT I will be using in the coming years.

Inkling have sensibly diversfied from iPad only books to allow people the flexibility to access their purchases across all platforms or deviced.

I am a Apple man & I have my bank statments to proove it!! but I have just brought the Apple tv3 & if I had hair to pull off my head I would have done so!! I have spent 11 hours over 3 days with not a glimmer of hope of getting it to work on Wifi ,I am now sending this back (I brought from a Amazon shop site) I like a callenge if things are not working but this really is a bit of junk, I will go & by another one of these because I have never been let down by a Apple product,if the next one turns out to be Junk I will be very upset,having read ALL the page after page of the downfull of this pruduct it begers beleift that Apple have not come clean about this matter, -- watch this space??

ATV2 has been having issues. It gets stuck on the Date/Time setting.

After much reading here and trying every fix, the only one that worked was downgrading my version to 5.02. That worked fine for less than a month and now It won't work again.

I've tried:

factory reset

restart

downgrade version

ethernet cable direct to router (Airport Extreme 4th Gen)

changing Airport Extreme settings

unplugging it and trying again later

made a Genuis Bar appt. The said nothing was wrong and it worked fine at the store

unplugged my Airport Express extenders

It worked absolutely great for a year.

My 2 iPhones, iPad mini, 2 Macbooks and iMac all work just fine.

I don't get it. I may switch back to Roku for my Netflix needs, but I really like streaming movies from HomeSharing. I have all kinds of movies on the computer. Not being able to use the ATV makes me bang my head against the wall.

Same here ATV worked great when new and out of the box. First software upgrade, and started disconnecting from network. Same thing is happening with ipad since software upgrade. I got a new router and same thing. However, all other devices have no problems including macbook. Leads me to believe apple has a software glitch, but i have reset the atv and upgraded software with the same results. Are we just to throw this thing out because apple will not support it?
