Powermac G5 wont start up completely

We own a powermac G5 that has had some problems in the past, but nothing like this. When we press the power button there is a chime and fan that shows everything is working up. A white screen appears with the apple sign showing that it is loading. After this screen has been loading for a while the computer just shuts down completely. Just so you know it is located on carpet, in case that has anything to do with the problem. Any suggestions ?

Thanks for the advice. Our machine is not liquid cooled; I blew out any dust and took out the batttery for 10 min and put it back. Could it be the battery? I tried verbose mode... the screen with white words came up, but it did not get beyond verbose mode and then shut down on its own. Any ideas? I also tried resetting the PRAM.

Well it turns out it's the internal power supply and it would appear our G5 is finished. 😢 We tried booting it from the drive with a technician on the phone form our local mac shop. No luck. He says it can't be the battery. Thanks for the help though - glad there's someone out there with some helpful ideas.
