iPhoto is reducing the size of my photos when I export them after editing

Hello.

I have a 16mp DSLR and when I import my photos they report the right megapixel count. If I make an edit and export the image it is reduced to 11.2 megapixels and has a file size of 2mb.

Why is it doing this and how can I make it export at the native resolution of 16 megapixels?

Apple said it supports upto 19mp files so what gives?!

Thanks

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.2

iPhoto for iOS downsizes photos so they are the optimism size for various social media sites like Facebook. To keep the photos fUll resolution export them to iTunes and use the file sharing feature to transfer them to you computer.

Thanks for the reply.

I've done that however if I look at iPhoto's information it says the photo is 4608 x 3072 but when saved using itunes it shows as 4096 x 2731. I'm not sure what that works out to megapixel wise but you can see its reducing pixels. Its also drastically reduced the file size from 4mb to 1.6. The image doesnt look bad however I assume its getting compressed a lot by iPhoto?

Thanks
