Video out problem

Hi,

I've read the forums and haven't seen exactly my problem. Some like it but not exactly.

I have an older apple AV cable and a 30GB iPod video. When I connect to every TV I have I get the same results. Noise in the audio and a scrambled picture. When I play just audio (songs), everything sounds fine through the TV.
I have made sure it is set to NTSC. I have the video out checked to ask or on. Tried widescreen on and off. I have tried it with itunes downloaded videos as well as my own encodes. All with the same results. I haver version 1.1 but read that was only a 60GB problem and I haven't had any freezes on my iPod. I was wondering if this may be a 1.1 problem with the 30GB and if anyone has had this same problem. I also tried this with non-apple AV cables and I get the same results. I have also switched the red and the yellow RCA's but I still doesn't work. Any ideas? What am I missing here? I can see part of the picture but it is really scrambled on all 3 sets of my cables. I checked the cables too and they do work with other devices......

The older Apple A/V cable as used with iBooks is wired differently :

Note that the video signal and ground are swapped round. This cable cannot be used (unless you take a pair of wire cutters to it).

Swapping the plugs round will not help.

Some generic A/V cables for camcorders e.g. Sony, Canon can be used by swapping the red and yellow plugs.

If you are still having problems I would suggest you buy the proper Apple cable.

regards

Brian
