We take good care of it and have only had it three weeks. We have a Kindle Fire and an I touch that get much heavier use and have not had any issues. Is the glass on the iPad poorer quality? Any one having this issue?

Definitely not an issue for my iPad 2. I've had it for nearly a year and the screen is flawless.

Never had a scratch on either of our iPad 2 devices and didn't use a screen protector. Now I have New iPad and no scratches. That doesn't mean it's not possible to scratch the glass on iPad, but it's not easy either. There's a durable Olephobic coating, but sand or grit could certainly scratch it.
I have superficial scratches on my iPad screen. Is this typical? Not a very heavy user, surprised at scratches.
