Jiff/Gif contains salts that WILL scratch your soft alloy shell and leave wheels all over it.

Never take any abrasive near aluminium EVER !

Use an almost dry cloth with simple soap and water.

I know its heresy, but I spray a few shots of a household cleaner on a paper towel and wipe the aluminum surfaces with that.  I hope that I will not be brought before the Inquisition.

If Gif does have salt in it as Keith Doherty3 says, don't use it.  You run the risk of electrolysis with the fasteners.
