Problems after installing Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7

I've been having some troubles, all of which occurred after installing Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7. Here are two I've found so far:

1. Terminal takes quite a long time to open new tabs.

2. Quicksilver hangs (and eventually crashes) when I try to type any type of text to search.

When the applications hang, no keyboard input is accepted in any application, though it is possible to use the mouse to move windows.

Is anyone else having any problems?

Moreover, does anyone know how to revert back to Update 6?

MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Here is an update:

I uninstalled Spell Catcher X after seeing that I was getting hangs in any type of autocomplete field (such as the search bar in Safari). This has fixed the problems with Quicksilver.

But... I still get long hangs when opening a Terminal window, so I'd really like to downgrade.

I did read somewhere about the need to quit browsers before downloading the Java 7 update ... and that these instructions were obscurely placed. Whether you did this, I don't know, but the effects of failing to do so may be something to consider had you missed the instruction.

Just a thought.
