Lion Startup USB

I just recently installed Lion. My daughter found the USB quite pretty and now I can't find the original USB. Can I make one using my already installed Lion OS on my MacBook Pro. If so what size USB do I need?

MacBook Pro 17, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 8 MB Ram

You can make your own USB thumb drive of the Lion install files but it can't be made from from what is now on your hard drive. You have to either boot to the Recovery HD partition or follow this article to load the Recovery HD sysem while you are booted into Lion and Download the install files and then make a USB thumb drive.

If you chose to do this, which I suggest, then after you download the Lion install files and save them use this little program to make the actual USB thumb drive. LionDiskMaker, do a google search for it. It's current release is 1.7b, I think.

You will need an external drive to save the downloaded files to and then once they are downloaded and the system want to Reboot shut down the install routine and disconnect the external drive. Which is covered in that link I provided.

Good Luck and if you have any other questions post back and I'll try to answer them.
