Hi there,
I have upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard. Since then Spotlight will find the name of a file just fine. But it won't search inside any document. (It used to do this just fine in Snow Leopard.)
I've Google'd the problem but the issue doesn't seem to be widespread. I'm a journalist and the Word/Text Search facility is extremely useful for me!
Any thoughts?

The search in Finder has been improved in Lion .. it may work better than spotlight when searching within folders.
Although I usually use spotlight without a problem.
Quick note for Spotlight in Lion, the path option appears when holding down the option and command keys.
Thanks Ashka for your reply. I need an effective TEXT SEARCH that looks for words or phrases inside a Word document (or any other application, for that matter). When I open Spotlight it tells me I CAN look within folders (see attached) but it doesn't do it!

Putting Documents at the top of the spotlight list in System prefs might help..
Just tried a dog's registered name and then a couple of other very names in old records in the spotlight search box top right on the menu bar (or use command spacebar) ~ several hits.
I had better results using the finder search box for odd phrases in various documents.

Lion Spotlight Text/word search doesn't work - frustrating!
