App Store Difficulties

Hello

I know that the discussion is archived on connection to App Store. The thing is, I cannot access it on my main iMac, but can on my backup iMac. The main one runs Lion 10.7.3 and the backup runs Snow Leopard. On the main one the Quick Links is greyed, and I cannot access Sign In or Account, but can access Redeem and Support. I have tried switching Firewall on and off, but that makes no difference. My other problem is that I want to dl an app for Lion, which the App Store will not let me do on the SL machine.

Any help or advice will be promptly acknowledged and appreciated.

Hi ..

On the main (iMac) running v10.7.3, installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo)will reinstall the App Store for you which may help. It's ok to do this even though the iMac is already running v10.7.3.

On the Mac running Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the minimum requirements for Lion:

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
  • 2GB of memory
  • OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
  • 7GB of available spare

From here > Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications

To check to see if the processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo, click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click: About This Mac.

If you aren't sure how much free space is available on the startup disk, right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
