Canon MG5220 not compatible with Lion

Canon says "due to certain incompatibilities between Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and our previously released Mac OS X 10.6 Printer and Fax drivers, you may not be able to print and an error log file will be generated that could potentially fill up the hard drive of your Macintosh computer."

Your post title is very misleading!

This is not a PRINTER incompatibility, and not for the model MG5220 that you mention.

From the link you included, the MG5220 printer IS NOT LISTED among those affected by the driver incompatibility.

And most important, the problem you list is caused by the incompatibility of older OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" printer drivers when used with OS X 10.7 "Lion"

The problem is easily solved by downloading and installing the (newer) correct printer drivers, designed for OS X 10.7

In addition to kostby's correct reply, the supported printer list for Lion shows the MG5220 (aka MG5250 in other regions and thus shown as MG5200 series in the list) is supported and its printer and scanner driver are available from Apple's Software Update. So when you do select to add this printer to your Lion Mac, the printer and scanner driver will be downloaded from Apple and installed.
