What does a medium write error mean, when trying to burn a cd?

I gathered from reviewing other conversations about this error and tried a different brand of CD-R Audio and the problem was resolved. Interesting though, I could still use the orginal CD-R that was a problem to burn audio with fewer tracks, but when attempting to burn audio with 17 tracks (filling a complete disk) the error was persistent. I can only guess that some differences between media and hardware exist when pushing the limits of disk capacity... Good luck.

It's not specific enough to pinpoint what caused it—it could be anything from a bad optical medium (CD-R) to a dusty or dying laser diode. You have to isolate the problem—use a different CD-R brand, try a different speed, use a different burn engine (eg, Burn), etc. If it occurs once or twice, randomly, it's more likely to be a bad disc. If it occurs consistently, and at the same stage of the burn process, it's more likely to be a drive or software issue.

"Medium" is referring to the CD. You might try a different brand or burn at a lower speed.
